Withdrawal Policy
1. Overview
Bioscience Insights understands that there may be circumstances where authors need to withdraw their manuscript from consideration or publication. This policy outlines the conditions under which manuscripts can be withdrawn, and the associated procedures.
2. Manuscript Withdrawal Before Peer Review
Authors may withdraw their manuscript at any time before the peer review process begins without penalty. To request a withdrawal:
- Authors should submit a formal withdrawal request to the editorial office via email or the manuscript submission system.
- There will be no charges or penalties for manuscripts withdrawn before the review process starts.
3. Manuscript Withdrawal After Peer Review Has Begun
Once a manuscript has entered the peer review process, authors may still request withdrawal, but the following conditions apply:
- Authors must submit a formal request to withdraw the manuscript, clearly explaining the reason for withdrawal.
- The submission fee (if applicable) is non-refundable once the peer review process has started.
- Withdrawal requests will be processed, and the manuscript will be removed from the review queue.
4. Manuscript Withdrawal After Acceptance
If an article has been accepted for publication, it can no longer be withdrawn without valid justification. Such requests will be reviewed by the editorial team, and the following applies:
- If the manuscript is withdrawn after acceptance, the authors may still be liable for the publication fee (if applicable), and no refund will be issued.
- A withdrawal notice may be published, and the reason for the withdrawal will be communicated on the journal’s website if necessary.
5. Reasons for Withdrawal
Common reasons for manuscript withdrawal may include:
- Discovery of significant errors in the data or methodology.
- Authors may no longer wish to proceed with publication.
- Ethical concerns related to the research or manuscript.
- Overlapping submission to another journal (duplicate submission).
6. Impact of Withdrawal
Withdrawing a manuscript does not affect the author’s ability to submit future manuscripts to Bioscience Insights. However, repeated withdrawals after peer review may impact an author’s reputation with the editorial team and reviewers. Authors are encouraged to carefully consider their decision before withdrawing a manuscript at any stage of the process.
7. Exception for Manuscript Withdrawal Due to Ethical or Legal Concerns
In the event that an article is withdrawn due to legal issues, plagiarism, or ethical concerns, the editorial team may take additional actions, including:
- Notifying relevant institutions, academic bodies, or legal authorities if required.
- Issuing a retraction notice or publishing a statement on the journal’s website regarding the withdrawal and the reason behind it.
